Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum qualification is COSC or LGSCE with at least a pass in four subjects, including English Language.
Ability to communicate in both Sesotho and English.
Ability to work long and irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Confidence in handling animals.
Careful when working with machinery.
Physically fit with good stamina.
Experience working with livestock and possession of a valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day livestock care, including:
Daily feeding or herding.
Cleaning kraals, stalls, pens, and equipment.
Milking, shearing, grooming, clipping, docking tails.
Collecting, inspecting, cleaning, and packing eggs into cartons or trays.
Examine animals and report signs of oestrus, calving, farrowing, illness, injury, or disease to the Farm Manager.
Mark livestock to identify ownership using tags and notches.
Perform day-to-day crop, fodder, and field maintenance, including:
Assisting with ploughing, fertilizer application, and sowing.
Assisting with irrigation, weeding, and spraying pesticides or herbicides.
Harvesting, grading, and packing fruits, vegetables, or grains during harvest seasons.
Operate and maintain farm infrastructure, including machinery, buildings, and fences.
Maintain the overall upkeep of farm operations by:
Following farm biosecurity and safety protocols.
Keeping accurate records of livestock, chemicals used, and daily farm activities.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Farm Manager and/or the Head of Department.
